Aripi nemaivazute

Speculati, voinicii mei!
Speculam, Maria Ta!

    Si…

In September 2018, Lockheed Martin was awarded a contract to develop an “Extreme Range” variant of the AGM-158. The weapon would weigh about 5,000 lb (2,300 kg) and deliver a 2,000 lb (910 kg) warhead out to a range of 1,000 nmi (1,900 km; 1,200 mi); it is planned to be ready by 2023.

    si de aici:

    http://www.airrecognition.com/index.php/archive-world-worldwide-news-air-force-aviation-aerospace-air-military-defence-industry/global-defense-security-news/global-news-2018/september/4513-us-air-force-moving-forward-with-lockheed-s-jassm-xr-missile-development.html

Lockeed has been working on an “Extreme Range” variant of its AGM-158 JASSM since 2004. The company then entailed a stealthy, 5,000 pound-class weapon that can fly out to 1,000 nautical miles to deliver a lethal payload up to 2,000 pounds precisely on target.

The upgrade includes a new missile control unit computer, “which will support the other planned capabilities,” the spokesman said. These include “new wing designs to increase standoff range through aerodynamic efficiency, and a new GPS unit to further advance our level of protection.”
      http://www.airforcemag.com/Features/Pages/2018/September%202018/Lockheed-Martin-Developing-Extreme-Range-JASSM-Variant.aspx

      https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a23105106/jassm-xr-cruise-missile-extended-range/

The original JASSM was powered by a Teledyne CAE J402-CA-100 turbojet and had a range of 230 miles. JASSM-ER extended the missile’s range to an estimated 500 miles using a more fuel efficient Williams International F107-WR-105 turbofan engine and larger fuel tanks.

      si mai jos despre XR

This probably involves an even larger fuel tank, and perhaps improvements to the inertial navigation system to keep the missile on track.

      sau de pe celebra

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-158_JASSM

      JASSM-Extended Range
The US Air Force studied various improvements to the AGM-158, resulting in the development of the JASSM-Extended Range (JASSM-ER), which received the designation AGM-158B in 2002. Using a more efficient engine and larger fuel volume in an airframe with the same external dimensions as the JASSM, the JASSM-ER is intended to have a range of over 575 miles (925 km) as compared to the JASSM’s range of about 230 miles (370 km). Other possible improvements were studied but ultimately not pursued, including a submunition dispenser warhead, new types of homing head, and a new engine giving ranges in excess of 620 miles (1,000 km).

Stiu ce zici si asa ar fi normal insa ei zic ca aripile ar fi cheia, nici un cuvant despre alte schimbari: The US Air Force (USAF) has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin to develop a new wing design for the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile – Extended Range (JASSM-ER).

Awarded for continued development of new wing design, the Undefinitized Contracting Action is valued at $37.7m.

The new wing design is expected to increase the range of the cruise missile, which currently has a range of more than 500 nautical miles.

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Long Range Strike Systems programme director Jason Denney said: “We’ve developed a novel design that provides additional standoff range to further increase pilot survivability in an Anti-Access-Area Denial threat environment.

Cum preconizeaza unii military americani, in speta Col. John Rafferty, viitorul armelor cu raza lunga:
    https://breakingdefense.com/2018/10/army-builds-1000-mile-supergun/
Michael Krepon, cofondator al “Stimson Center” si autor al “Better Safe than Sorry: The Ironies of Living with the Bomb”
“The Pentagon is working on a ground-launched cruise missile, but will have a difficult time finding a basing country in Europe or Asia. Even if Trump can find a taker, this move makes little sense when sea-based and air-delivered options are in play. The Congress would be wise to kill the ground-based cruise missile initiative in R&D.”
    https://www.defenseone.com/technology/2018/10/army-missile-might-be-pentagons-first-post-inf-weapon/152354/
Aici as avea o completare, daca Sud-Coreenii garantat vor face scandal(vezi odiseea THAAD), in Europa, din partea Poloniei si Romaniei vor avea loc chiar actiuni de lobby, pt o eventuala desfasurare.

Recent, “Iranian missile has been retrofitted with “active seeker” technology to better detect ships at sea. In mid-August, Iran test-fired one of these missiles against a ship.”

John Rafferty:
“We’re going to play by the rules until we’re told the rules have changed. That’s our approach on the team and the guidance from senior leaders”

Greg Weaver, the Joint Staff’s deputy director of strategic capabilities:
“We need to demonstrate to the Russians that we’re serious about them coming back into compliance with INF and that perhaps they need to be reminded why they signed the INF treaty in the first place.
Solely doing research on a new missile will keep us within the four corners of the treaty—for now—while also signaling to Russia that we won’t abide by their aggression”

Inca, la vremea respectiva Secretarul Apararii, James Mattis:
“What we’re trying to do is ensure our diplomats and our negotiators are in a position to be listened to and say: We want to go forward on non-proliferation and arms control.
At the same time, you do so by having an effective, safe deterrent.”
