Cand e vorba de denumirea unor sisteme integrate de aparare anti-aeriana, “Patriot and Below Concept” ia premiul pentru cel mai interesant nume. “Patriot si cele de sub el” e o idee impinsa in fata de o echipa compusa din Rheinmetall, Kongsberg si, evident, Raytheon. Pe scurt: toata-lumea-care-nu-e-Lockheed-Martin-si-nici-MBDA.

De moartea domnului MEADS s-a tot auzit, adica indelungata suferinta a ofertei Lockheed Martin-MBDA pentru dotarea Germaniei. Concurenta s-a coagulat deci in jurul Raytheon si incearca sa-i convinga pe germani sa-l omoare pe MEADS al lu’ LM si al MBDA, complet, in mod final si irevocabil. Cu tarus in inima cu tot.

Germany should delay its medium- and long-range ground-based air defence (GBAD) effort to focus instead on a full-spectrum solution that includes the more pressing short-range requirement also, Raytheon and Rheinmetall told Jane’s on 27 November.

Speaking to Jane’s at the Berlin Security Conference, industry officials said that, with a contract for the Tactical Air Defence System (Taktische Luftverteidigungssystem: TLVS) designed to counter high-end threats such as ballistic missiles not yet awarded, the Bundeswehr should shift if efforts to acquiring a more rounded GBAD solution that includes the short-range threats of small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as mortar and rocket fire.

“Below Patriot” Live Fire Demonstration

With the world’s air defence commands facing challenges below the extreme range of Ballistic Missile systems, the conference lead sponsor Rheinmetall invite you to look ‘below patriot’ with a live fire demonstration of surveillance and weapon systems across the SHORAD spectrum at the Ocschenboden range in Zurich.

Joined by Raytheon and KONGSBERG for the firing day, Rheinmetall will present for the very first time a 35mm air defence gun which is fully integrated into the KONGSBERG Fire Distribution Center (FDC) and show the so-called Below Patriot Concept.

Demonstrating capabilities against active targets, the highlight will be a live firing of Rheinmetall’s 35mm air defence systems, alongside a range of other systems from Rheinmetall’s armoury. As of today, the planned programme will be as follows:

· Oerlikon Skyranger® Gun which will be integrated in the KONGSBERG fire distribution center (FDC). Additionally we will have a Oerlikon X-TAR3D® Search radar and an Oerlikon MMR® radar integrated.
· Oerlikon Skynex® Air Defence Concept with following sensors and effectors:

– Oerlikon Skymaster® Command and Control System
– Oerlikon X-TAR3D® Search radar
– Oerlikon MMR® Radar
– Oerlikon Twin Gun® GDF009 EO
– High Energy Laser on a vehicle platform (to be confirmed)

Deci va fi vorba de integrarea NASAMS cu produsele Oerlikon, in principal tunul revolver de 35mm Skyranger si, foarte interesant, tunurile binate de 35mm GDF009. Revenim la ele.

Nici zona C-RAM nu a fost uitata si, daca te-ai putea astepta ca daca te uiti sub Patriot sa descoperi SkyHunter-ul (a.k.a Iron Dome) lui Raytheon, in cazul asta va fi vorba de o noua racheta, competitoare in exact aceeasi nisa a Iron Dome: Denel Cheetah.

In partnership with Rheinmetall Denel Munition, Denel Dynamics and Rheinmetall Air Defence and Radar Systems, the Cheetah missile is currently being developed as a countermissile to be deployed against RAM projectiles – rockets, artillery and mortars – often used by militias and terrorist groups.

Working in conjunction with other inner-tier effectors such as future high-energy lasers and the famous 35mm Oerlikon guns using Rheinmetall’s proprietary Ahead ammunition technology, Cheetah will form part of a solid, ruggedized system for protecting vital assets, units on the move, and small areas from a full spectrum of symmetric and asymmetric threats at distances of up to 6 kilometres with maximum resistance against saturation. Larger targets such as fixed-wing and rotary aircraft can be engaged at distances of up to 10 km.

Cheetah a fost conceputa de la inceput pentru a se integra cu Oerlikon Skyshield si asta pentru ca Africa de Sud isi modernizeaza artileria AA bazata pe 2x35mm GDF005 la standardul GDF007, adica AHEAD, si in plus sistemul de conducere al focului va fi adus de helveto-germani la standardul Skyshield.

Tragand linie, sud-africanii, elvetienii si germanii par sa fie o mare familie fericita, cu solutii V/SHORAD complementare si bine integrate. Iar Raytheon i-a adunat pe toti sub fusta Patriot, unde mai incape si Kongsberg cu NASAMS, pe post de gap-filler.

Ca veni vorba, deocamdata nu exista intentii de modernizare a GDF003 din dotarea RoArmy, pe principiul “merge si asa”. O lasam la punctul mort, electronica prea avansata se poate strica iar modernizarile sint pentru fraieri.
Asteptam totusi sa vedem ce o sa fie sub Patrioatele noastre, cam ca la pomul de Craciun.
